These systems or equipments use patented and proprietary stereolithography, selective laser sintering, and various 3-D modeling and film transfer imaging methods and processes that take digital data input from CAD software or three-dimensional scanning and sculpting devices to fabricate physical objects from engineered plastic, metal, and composite materials. In addition, the company blends, markets, and distributes various proprietary consumable, engineered plastics, composites, and metal materials; and offers various software tools and field services, including applications development, installation, warranty, and maintenance services. Its customers include companies in a range of industries, including manufacturers of automotive, aerospace, computer, electronic, defense, education, consumer, medical, and dental products. 3D Systems Corporation also serves original equipment manufacturers, government agencies, and universities that use its systems for research activities, as well as independent service bureaus that provide prototyping and manufacturing services to their customers for a fee. It sells SLA and SLS systems and related materials and services through its direct sales organization, sales agents, resellers, and distributors; and 3-D printers and related materials and services directly and through a network of authorized distributors and resellers. The company was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Rock Hill, South Carolina. |
