| Knology, Inc., through its subsidiaries, owns and operates an interactive broadband network in the southeastern and midwestern United States. It provides video, voice, data, and communications services, including analog and digital cable television, local and long-distance telephone, high-speed Internet access, and broadband carrier services to residential and business customers. The companys video services include basic programming, which consists of local broadcast television and local community programming, including public, educational, and government access channels; and expanded programming comprising channels of satellite-delivered or non-broadcast channels, such as ESPN, MTV, USA, CNN, The Discovery Channel, Nickelodeon, and various home shopping networks. Its video services also include digital programming consisting of various music channels that offer high definition television, digital video recorder, video-on-demand, and subscription video-on-demand; and premium channels, which provide commercial-free movies, sports, and other special event entertainment programming, such as HBO, Showtime, Starz, Encore, and Cinemax. In addition, it offers its services on an unbundled basis. The company owns and operates a 750 MHz interactive broadband network. As of December 31, 2008, its network passed approximately 919,000 homes and had approximately 676,794 total connections. The company was founded in 1995 and is based in West Point, Georgia. |
